AIR COMPRESSOR

1. PURPOSE

It is established to ensure required air pressure in the different department of production.

2. SCOPE

It is applicable in the production departments wherever the air pressure is required.

3. RESPONSIBILITY

Maintenance officer (Mechanical / Electrical)
Maintenance Supervisor (Mechanical / Electrical)

4 PROCEDURE

The Air Compressor with instrument To 291, 343 is handled in the following way.

CLEANING:

Switch to “OFF” the compressor before starting cleaning.
Clean compressor motor and the compressor with clean cloth to remove dust.
Drain the condensed water from the storage tank to clean it.
Clear the air filter with air pressure gun.

STARTUP & OPERATION:

Before switching to “ON” check the oil level of compressor.
Drain the condensed water of the storage tank.
Switch the compressor to “ON”.
After maintaining the required pressure in the compressor (pressure gauge installed on the compressor). Open the valve to transmit the air pressure to different departments of production.
Check time to time the compressor to meet any kind of emergency.
(Motor dry belts, any abnormal noise etc.)


5 MAINTENANCE

MONITORING OF MACHINE MAINTENANCE:

Time to time check each and every part of Air Compressor according to the maintenance schedule.
Check the following parts carefully.
 Electric motor
 Electric Starter
 Pressure Switch
 Solenoid Valve
 Compressor inlet and outlet valves
 Bearing
This activity is then documented in the form Machinery & Equipment Maintenance Log
Check the Air Compressor condition time to time to find any kind of problem during operation.
All the monitoring record is filed and kept by the Maintenance Supervisor.
EMERGENCY / BREAKDOWN MONITORING:

Maintenance Manager receives Maintenance Work Order duly signed by the section incharge of the concerned machinery or equipment.
Maintenance Work Order is assigned a number according to the receiving in the Maintenance Reference Register.
Maintenance Manager assigns the maintenance work to the concerned personal
After the completion of work the section incharge signs the completion of Work Order.
All the record is filed and kept by the Maintenance Supervisor.
PRECAUTIONS:

Do not try to start up the operations without checking oil level in the compressor.
Do not start the compressor without in take filters.
Do not start up the operation without draining the condensed water from the compressor tank.
Switch to “OFF” that compressor if find any kind of abnormality.
Stay at you seat to meet any kind of emergency.
